“Blockers” is a rare comedy that rises above the silly premise. The film is able to combine the raunch and language you come to expect with an R-rated comedy, but also fits in plenty of heart and a surprisingly great message that makes the whole package one of the best of the year. In the clip (seen below), you see the basic premise of the movie, that a trio of protective parents find out their kids have formed a “sex pact” for prom and they’re going to, as the title suggests, cock block. But as director Kay Cannon, best known for writing all three “Pitch Perfect” films, says in the clip, the real reason the parents don’t like it is because a sex pact is just “weird.”
