'The Equalizer' Trailer: Queen Latifah Takes Over For Denzel Washington As A Secret Badass Helping Innocent People

Depending on your age, you probably have different ideas about what “The Equalizer” is. If you’re, uh, a person of a certain age, you may remember the ‘80s TV drama about a retired agent that takes it upon himself to use his skills to help innocent people in bad situations. If you’re a bit younger, you may think of Denzel Washington’s two ‘Equalizer’ films where he violently disposed of bad guys and looked badass doing it. But if you don’t even remember that, perhaps you’re going to be excited to watch CBS’ new reboot of “The Equalizer,” with Queen Latifah doing all the ass-kicking.

As seen in the trailer for “The Equalizer,” the basics of the franchise are still here. Queen Latifah plays McCall, a mysterious badass that aims to use her skills to help innocent people. But there area few key differences with the reboot. First and foremost, she’s a mom with a young daughter that doesn’t necessarily understand why her mother, who runs a charity, is jet setting around the world and so devoted to her job. Probably because McCall doesn’t want her teen daughter knowing that she’s taking on some villains and beating the hell out of them.

Joining Latifah in the cast are Chris Noth, Tory Kittles, Lorraine Toussaint, Liza Lapira, and Adam Goldberg. The new reboot is co-created by Latifah alongside Richard Lindheim, who helped create the original series.
