George Clooney Teases 2026 Shoot For ‘Ocean’s 14’ Without Naming Director

Some new comments coming from actor/producer George Clooney sound super optimistic that “Ocean’s 14,” a fourth installment in the Las Vegas heist franchise moving forward potentially by next year, as Warner Bros. has given approval of a budget.

Speaking with E! News (via Variety) during the New York Film Festival to promote his new film “Jay Kelly,” Clooney said of the gestating sequel, who is producing through his production banner Smokehouse, “We just got the budget approved at Warner Bros. and we’re trying to set up. It’s just scheduling, so it’s just setting a start date for us. Probably start in about 9 or 10 months, shooting.”

However, he stopped short of naming the film’s director, someone who would need to be in place before something like budget approval.

Clooney was also enthusiastic about reuniting with the original cast after being asked about reuniting with folks like Brad Pitt, “Yeah, Brad [Pitt], Matt [Damon], and Don [Cheadle], and Julia [Roberts]. I had dinner last night with Julia. They’re all still really dear friends. And so, the chance to work together would be fun.” So at the very least, it sounds like they’re getting the band back together.

Back in January, trades such as Variety had reported that David Leitch (“The Fall Guy,” “Bullet Train”) was in the mix to potentially direct the film, as Edward Berger (“Conclave”) was mentioned, too, but Berger had confirmed he had turned it down. That said, we’re still waiting on a director to be named, officially.

“Ocean’s 14” isn’t the only project in the works. A prequel had also been separately in the works with Ryan Gosling and Margot Robbie circling lead roles, the former potentially being eyed to play a younger version of the legendary thief Gaspar LeMarc (played by the late Albert Finney), and was revealed to be the father of Interpol Agent Isabel Lahiri (played by Catherine Zeta-Jones) from “Ocean’s Twelve.”

With this promising update, we should be learning more soon, including the mystery director’s name and new additions to the cast. Although it sounds like the prequel isn’t happening anytime soon, despite reports over the summer of “Twisters” director Lee Isaac Chung being courted.
