Go Deep With 'Suicide Squad' In These Video Essays Which Explore Easter Eggs, Deleted Scenes & The Making Of The Movie

Much like “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice,” the discussion surrounding “Suicide Squad” is less about what was in the film and more about what happened behind the scenes. What were the content of those late reshoots? How much of the Joker’s scenes hit the cutting room floor? And finally, who actually edited the movie? Fans will probably never know the exact answers, but there’s enough information out there to piece together your own conclusions.

One amateur detective, Mr. Sunday Movies, has released two videos trying to make sense of what actually happened during the making of “Suicide Squad.” The first video is advertised as a list of deleted scenes that were left out of the film. However, when you watch the video, you quickly realize the content is more of a quick history on the beginnings of the film, the controversy surrounding the production and post-production, and then a little bit about what might have been cut from the finished product. Spoiler warning: it seems like the studio-approved answer of “about 10 minutes” of footage is a gross miscalculation.

The second video dissecting the movie focuses on the Easter Eggs. Many long-time comic book fans are able to spot most of these, but the video does a good job of trying to show that there were some costumes, sets, and scenes ripped directly from the pages of DC comics. Regardless of what people think of the end product, the filmmakers obviously wanted to pay respect to the source material.

Both videos are worth a viewing for anyone who is interested in the making of this controversial comic book film.
