Got a Tip?

“Gritty” ‘Daredevil’ Coming To Netflix May 2015, ‘Guardians Of The Galaxy’ Animated Series In The Works

Guardians Of The GalaxyThe Marvel-verse continues to expand and all you can do is get out of the way. And while Marvel has their next batch of movies planned through 2019, their current baby is this week’s "Guardians Of The Galaxy" (our review). A sequel is already set for 2017, and it looks like they are feeling confident enough audiences will want even more, a small screen version of the heroes is in the works.

This weekend at Comic-Con, Marvel teased one minute of footage from an animated "Guardians Of The Galaxy" series, and that’s all they’re sharing for now. In typical Marvel fashion, details are scarce, except that the show will eventually air on Disney XD (via Deadline). But given the already wild group of characters, and a setting that can see them travel all over the universe, a cartoon pitched towards kids who might want to have their own Rocket Raccoon lunchbox makes perfect sense. Blockbusters don’t make their money just at the box office, these days.

Meanwhile, in something probably a bit more for adults, "Daredevil" is plowing ahead for Netflix. And as you might guess, it’s going to have some dirt under its fingernails. “We’re going for a very kind of gritty, 1970′s New York feel for the show," showrunner Steven S. DeKnight said (via Flickering Myth). "We love the idea of beauty in the decay of the city and Hell’s Kitchen being a place that is both horrible and beautiful at the same time, and that’s why Matt Murdock loves it so much and wants to protect it.”

And we’ll see just how dirty things get next spring, with Marvel revealing the show will air on Netflix in May 2015 (via BamSmackPow). But, here’s thing thing—can Marvel do gritty? Let us know below.
