‘Hacks’ & HBO Max Dominate The 2025 Dorian TV Awards

The Primetime Emmy Awards nominations are a week away, but this morning, GALECA: The Society of LGBTQ Entertainment Critics, announced the winners of the 17th Annual Doran TV Awards. And, in no surprise, “Hacks” came away with the most wins, including Best TV Comedy, Best TV Performance – Comedy (Jean Smart), Best Supporting TV Performance – Comedy (Hannah Einbinder), and Best Written TV Show. Smart also won the TV Icon Award over notables such as Gillian Anderson, Angela Bassett, Alan Cumming, and Sarah Michelle Gellar.

Overall, HBO Max dominated the winners list, taking 11 categories while Netflix won three. Max’s “The Pitt” won Best TV Drama, and Noah Wyle won Best TV Performance Drama. “Severance’s” Tramell Tillman won Best Supporting TV Performance – Drama. “Adolescence” took the Best TV Movie or Limited Series while “The Traitors” won Best Reality Show and, sigh, Campiest TV Show.

Besides Smart, other competitive, but honorary awards went to Cole Escola and Ncuti Gatwa.

Made up of 560 members, including this writer, GALECA “reminds the world that the informed LGBTQ perspective on all things entertainment matters.” The nonprofit organization advocates for better pay, access, and respect for entertainment journalists (especially those most underrepresented), and provides scholarships for LGBTQ journalism students.
