Humor is subjective. While Hollywood studios would likely greatly abuse the formula for guaranteed laughs, the truth is that telling jokes and making people laugh is something that can’t really be nailed down to one obvious style. And even if something is generally thought to be knee-slappingly hysterical, there are likely plenty of folks that would not even grin when watching it. All that to say, the HBO series “How To with John Wilson” is a downright hilarious series, but something that is most definitely not for everybody.

As seen in the teaser for Season 2 of “How To with John Wilson,” the style of humor found in the acclaimed HBO series isn’t going to be universally beloved. It’s an odd mix of dry humor, situational comedy, and cringe. The closest example would be “Nathan for You,” another hilarious series that is often beloved by some and loathed by others. Basically, if you watch the new teaser for the series and find it fascinating, silly, and enticing, as you watch a sausage link go back and forth on a frying pan, you are the target audience. And I personally want to welcome you to the club.
The first season of “How To” sees John Wilson take his camera to the streets of New York City, trying to find answers to some of life’s most nagging questions. However, he doesn’t do man-on-the-street interviews or stage pranks. He videos real life situations, often with the person not even realizing they’re being recorded and juxtaposes it with some narration that is often silly and fun, and sometimes even a bit emotional. Again, it’s not for everybody.
The second season of “How To with John Wilson” arrives on HBO on November 26. You can watch the new teaser below:
