It’s hard to believe that it’s been just over a year since we learned of Jeremy Renner’s near-fatal accident in January 2023. If you don’t remember, Renner was run over by a snow plow after pushing his family member out of the way. He was nearly killed with dozens of broken bones and tons of other serious injuries. But a year later, he’s back and ready to put on his superhero suit, if needed.
Speaking to ET, while promoting his upcoming Silk Super Bowl ad that shows how far he’s come in a year, Jeremy Renner talked about his future and what that might mean for a return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. For more than a decade now, Renner has played Hawkeye in the MCU, with his most recent performance being the 2021 Disney+ series, “Hawkeye.” And while nothing has been confirmed, it looks like Renner is ready to go if he’s needed in a future Marvel project.
“I’m always game. I’m gonna be strong enough, that’s for sure. I’ll be ready,” said Renner. “All those guys come to my bedside and they’ve been with me all along through this recovery, so… if they want me, they could have me. It would be something.”
As for how he’s feeling overall, it appears the actor is actually doing really well, nearly back to what he was before the accident.
“[I’m doing] probably 90 percent of all the things I needed to be doing… I think another six months will be hopefully running [more]… I got to set goals for myself. I’ll do whatever I can… whatever it takes to get better, to get stronger,” Renner explained. “It’s a one-way street, this recovery. The rest of my life is about health and wellness. Recovery will be part of the rest of my life, so I look forward to it, man. There’s always something to do to get better, be stronger, be happier, be healthier, and that’s what I look forward to.”
As of now, it looks like Renner’s acting work right now is in his TV series, “Mayor of Kingstown,” which returns for Season 3. But with rumors of a major Avengers reunion in ‘Secret War,’ there’s always the chance we could see Renner don the Hawkeye costume at least one more time.
