'You Were Never Really Here' Clip Shows Joaquin Phoenix Make A Trip To The Hardware Store

Without a doubt, Joaquin Phoenix’s new film “You Were Never Really Here” is one of the most anticipated of the year. With only a few short weeks until its theatrical release, Amazon Studios has just released a new clip from the film, and it’s a great tease of what’s to come.

With barely any dialogue, the newest clip from “You Were Never Really Here” gives viewers a quick peek at what they can expect from the film directed by Lynne Ramsay. As Joe, played by Phoenix, walks into a hardware store, the beautiful, unique score builds as he grabs a hammer. No dialogue, no crazy action. Literally just Joaquin Phoenix grabbing a hammer. Yet, that quick scene, followed by a group of girls asking him to take their picture on the sidewalk show just how intense “You Were Never Really Here” is.

The film is directed by Lynne Ramsay, who you may know from “We Need to Talk About Kevin.” That film, which was released back in 2011, showed just how incredible the filmmaker is at conveying tension and drama. Now, seven years later, she’s back with her follow-up film, and as we asked in our review, “Can Lynne Ramsay please direct all movies, forever?”

With Jonny Greenwood’s score now available for streaming, and Amazon releasing little clips like this, the hype around this film is at a fever pitch. After wowing audiences at festivals, Ramsay’s latest film is almost ready for the masses. We can’t wait!
