Katherine Waterston will star opposite Andrew Garfield in the untitled pic, with Focus Features on board to handle its release. Garfield, who replaced “The Lost Bus” star Matthew McConaughey on the film in May, plays a legendary leader of a ferocious rebellion against King Richard II. Who Waterston plays remains a mystery, but that will be solved once there’s additional casting.

News broke about this Greengrass project when FilmNation brought it to the European Film Market at the Berlinale earlier this year. Back then, McConaughey was attached to star, but Garfield replaced him when the same package hit the Cannes market in May. Focus was circling the project then, but their involvement wasn’t official until now. The only other official news on the film for now: Jason Blum produces via Blumhouse with Gregory Goodman, Joanna Kaye, and Greengrass.

The world premiere of Greengrass’ “The Lost Bus” is today at TIFF, so expect him to start further work on this pic once he’s finished the press rounds for that one. And it shouldn’t be long; Apple produced the pic, and has it slated for an October 3 premiere on Apple TV+ after a brief theatrical run.

Other upcoming projects for Waterston include “Park Avenue,” currently in post-production, and “Fackham Hall.” Both films should hit theaters next year. As for Garfield, he’s making the Fall festival rounds for Luca Guadagnino‘s “After The Hunt,” which hits theaters on October 10. After that, he stars in Artificial,” another Guadagnino pic, and an adaptation of The Magic Faraway Tree,” in post-production now.
