Kevin Feige Says A Standalone Hulk Movie Won't Happen Until After 'The Avengers 2'

nullMarvel Plans Update #4536211: We're three years away from "The Avengers 2," and with Marvel Phase 2 pretty much mapped out, it means that speculation is now beginning on what's going to happen years for now, meaning every burp and fart from anyone involved in those films, will be reported and scrutinzed to the nth degree. And so thus, here we are talking about the possibility of a standalone Hulk movie.

Granted, one of the biggest highlights of this summer's record smashing "The Avengers" indeed was Mark Ruffalo's portrayal of the temper sensitive, green mutant. Funnier than he has been in his past incarnations, with a decent little well of personal pain too, Ruffalo and Joss Whedon's Hulk was everything the previous incarnations simply weren't. Fans have already started calling for a new standalone Hulk movie, but they will have to patient as Kevin Feige says it's still a long away off.

"Do I think Hulk can carry a movie and be as entertaining as he was in 'Avengers'? I do believe that. I do believe he absolutely could. We certainly are not even going to attempt that until 'Avengers 2,' " he told MTV. "So there's a lot of time to think about it." Certainly, with two Hulk movies in the last decade alone, Feige is wise to give yet another shot to the green hero to get his own movie. And there are undoubtedly other characters Marvel wants to add to their universe. But Feige is also wary of letting things get out of control.

"I think there's pitfalls of continuity-overload, and mythology getting so dense that it almost collapses in on itself," he reasoned. "It happens every few decades or so in the comics. Apart from that, I'd say everything is on the table."

So, keep your Hulk underoos on for now, but you can enjoy Hulk all over again as "The Avengers" hits home video tomorrow.
