Kristen Stewart To Star In The New Film 'Happiest Season' From Writer-Director Clea DuVall

For those film fans worried that Kristen Stewart is forgoing the indie scene in favor of more big-budget work, thanks to the upcoming “Charlie’s Angels,” never fear. Stewart’s latest project plants her firmly back in her dramatic comfort zone.

Variety is reporting that the actress has signed on to star in the upcoming film “Happiest Season.” The film tells the story of a young lesbian couple on the cusp of taking the next step in their relationship. “Happiest Season” comes courtesy of co-writers Clea DuVall and Mary Holland. DuVall will perform double-duty on the film, serving as the film’s director, as well. DuVall is probably best known for her acting roles, but in recent years, has stepped behind the camera.

Back in 2016, the writer-director helmed her debut film, “The Intervention,” which received acclaim after it’s debut at that year’s Sundance Film Festival. However, even with that success, “Happiest Season” will mark the biggest project in the young filmmaking career of DuVall.

As mentioned above, Stewart is currently busy filming “Charlie’s Angels,” which is the latest reboot of the popular film and TV franchise. Joining Stewart in the cast are Naomi Scott and Ella Balinksa. Elizabeth Banks is also on board to star and direct.
