Marvel Has No Plans For 'Fantastic Four'

Ever since 20th Century Fox released the severely botched “Fantastic Four” reboot in 2015, fans have been clamoring for Marvel to somehow scoop up the rights and do the characters justice. And while producer Simon Kinberg has fancied doing a sequel, albeit one that is “brighter [and] funner,” Fox doesn’t seem to be in any hurry. Does that mean the time is right for Marvel to swoop in? If it is, they’re not interested.

In an interview with Allocine, Kevin Feige made crystal clear the status of “Fantastic Four” with Marvel: “[We have] no plans with the Fantastic Four right now. No discussions about it.”

That’s not really a surprise. Last fall, Feige said it would be an “impossibility” for Marvel and Fox to work together on Fantastic Four or X-Men, though for the latter possibility, the Marvel exec seems to have gained a sunnier outlook about its chance in the coming months.

“My goal is to replicate the experience that comic book fans have reading the books [where characters crossover] up on the screen and we’ve been able to accomplish that beyond my wildest dreams over the last ten years,” he told Perception last fall. And certainly, including Spidey in ‘Civil War,’ in the upcoming ‘Infinity War,’ is yet another dream that I didn’t even dare to talk about publicly because I thought the odds of it were very slim. So, no plans beyond that for the few remaining characters that aren’t already in the MCU but never say never. Who knows what can happen in the future?”

So, keep hope alive. And certainly, if Marvel’s venture with Sony this summer on “Spider-Man: Homecoming” goes well, maybe it’ll persuade Fox to be a little more cooperative…. [via Comic Book/Heroic Hollywood]
