One of the pleasures to be had from Ridley Scott‘s upcoming thriller “The Counselor,” we’re assuming, is watching Michael Fassbender squirm. The film, based on the first original screenplay from “No Country for Old Men” author Cormac McCarthy, concerns a lawyer (Fassbender) who gets involved in drug trafficking and, we’re assuming, has to try and extract himself without winding up very, very dead. In a new clip, we watch Fassbender talking with Javier Bardem, with a fake tan and hypnotically spiky plume of hair, about just how bad his situation has gotten. Watch it below.
It looks like Bardem is some kind of underworld character, and it seems they’re at Bardem’s house. The two talk about what they’re going to do (for money, for an escape), with Bardem warning Fassbender that he wouldn’t be in this mess if he had just come to him earlier and accepted his initial proposition. It’s our feeling Bardem is some kind of mid-level gangster and Fassbender has gotten in bad with dudes who are much, much scarier.
Other cast members who didn’t make it into this clip but are still in the movie include Penelope Cruz, Cameron Diaz, Brad Pitt, John Leguizamo, Dean Norris, and Rosie Perez.
“The Counselor” opens on October 25th and will undoubtedly feature a lot more of Fassbender squirming. Posters via Little White Lies.
