Stare into the little light that Will Smith is holding in the image above, because you’ll want to wipe the memory of the original "Men In Black" trilogy from your memory. Why? Because some moviemakers are going to want to you get excited for a new trilogy, though one that will not involve Smith’s alien busting talents.
Chatting with THR, producers Walter Parkes and Laurie MacDonald revealed that among their plans is new series of movies about well dressed men battling aliens. "We’re in the middle of it. It’s very active," Parkes told the trade.
"It will be reinvented as a trilogy," MacDonald added. In short: an existing trilogy will be reinvented as a new trilogy. It seems there is never a shortage of original ideas in Hollywood, doesn’t it? But bear in mind that these are the same folks behind a Diablo Cody penned "Barbie" movie, so it’s not art they’re making here.
There’s no word if Tommy Lee Jones will pop up to behave grouchily just for old times sake, or if Josh Brolin will segue into leading things from "Men In Black 3." And then there’s that whole "Men In Black"/"21 Jump Street" crossover that’s been bandied about, but that’s seeming more and more like a pie-in-the-sky notion. But again, who knows? In the meantime, #neverforget…..
