There's so much Hitchock this fall anywhere you turn, but we guess we can't complain about having an overabundance of one of the greatest directors of all time. Universal's recent Blu-ray box prompted us to do a 2-part retrospective of his films, while on the small screen we saw Toby Jones take on the titan in "The Girl," while Anthony Hopkins gears up to do the same at a cinema near you this weekend in "Hitchcock." And yes, there's even more coming. A&E is gearing up to take you back to "Bates Motel" next spring and the first look at the film is positively psyc— calm….
Freddie Highmore and Vera Farmiga take the roles of Norman and Norma Bates, the odd couple of sorts that eventually led the son down a dark path. But this series, overseen (for better or worse) by "Lost" honcho Carlton Cuse, will follow Norman during his teenage years that we presume eventually turned him into the infamous killer in Hitchcock's delightfully twisted pic. Can this series stand on its own in the shadow of the cinematic classic? Guess we'll soon seen.
"Bates Motel" airs next spring. [EW]
