Oscars 2021: Best Actor Contenders & Predictions

Is 2021 the year another legendary actor adds a second or third Academy Award to their trophy case? Or will a first-timer make their case? In either scenario, the Oscars won’t necessarily be rewarded with star power from the Best Actor category. Although, there are some outside contenders for ratings ravished ABC.

Many people mistakenly assume Anthony Hopkins already has at least two Oscars, but the five-time nominee only has one statue for “Silence of the Lambs.” That could change with his performance in “The Father,” his best shot to win in decades. Gary Oldman finally won for “The Darkest Hour” and is back in the race for number two with David Fincher’s “Mank.” Of course, the major player is “Ma Rainey’s” Chadwick Boseman, who passed away in August.
