‘Outside The Wire’ Trailer: Anthony Mackie Is The Ultimate Soldier In Netflix’s Sci-Fi/Action Film

Anthony Mackie has proven himself to be able to play quite the superhero in the world of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. As Sam Wilson, aka Falcon, aka the future Captain American, Mackie is one of the most charismatic actors in the entire MCU. Now, he brings that charisma and action skills to the world of future warfare in “Outside the Wire.”

As seen in the teaser trailer for “Outside the Wire,” Mackie stars as Leo, an android office that is working alongside a drone pilot as they venture to the front lines to find a doomsday device before the bad guys are able to do the same. Basically, it’s Anthony Mackie killing lots of robots and looking super cool doing it. The film follows recent Netflix hits “The Old Guard” and “Extraction” as the types of films that focus on a big-name lead in an over-the-top action film. And hey, if it worked for those features, why can’t it work for “Outside the Wire?”

Joining Anthony Mackie in the cast are Damson Idris, Enzo Cilenti, Emily Beecham, Michael Kelly, and Pilou Asbæk. The film is directed by Mikael Håfström. Previously, the filmmaker has worked on a number of features including “1408,” “Escape Plan,” and “Quick,” as well as TV series such as “Moscow Noir” and “Bloodline.”

“Outside the Wire” arrives on Netflix on January 15, 2021. You can watch the teaser trailer below.

Set in the future, a drone pilot (Damson Idris) is sent into a deadly militarized zone where he finds himself working for an android officer (Anthony Mackie) tasked to locate a doomsday device before the insurgents do.
