'Paranormal Activity: Next Of Kin' Trailer: The Found-Footage Horror Franchise Returns On Paramount+ This Month

I’m not 100% sure the point of the new “Paranormal Activity” film, ‘Next of Kin,’ is supposed to be that Amish people are evil cultists that are looking to murder you, but that’s really the vibe I got after watching it.

As seen in the trailer for “Paranormal Activity: Next of Kin,” the film follows the story of a young woman that discovers her oldest relative is part of an Amish-like group that lives in the outskirts of society. Obviously, since this is part of the ‘Paranormal Activity’ franchise, the woman brings a documentary film crew to capture the joy of meeting her long-lost family for the first time, lending the film its found-footage look. And again, since this is part of the “Paranormal Activity” franchise, things aren’t always what they seem, as the Amish folks are clearly cultists that are out for blood.

‘Next of Kin’ is the seventh film in the ‘Paranormal Activity’ franchise, and the first one since 2015’s less-than-stellar ‘The Ghost Dimension.’ It would appear that ‘Next of Kin’ is Paramount’s latest attempt to inject new life in the franchise that has long since grown to be a bit stale, especially in light of how many found-footage horror films have been released since the original ‘Paranormal Activity’ debuted almost 15 years ago.

If you are psyched for ‘Next of Kin,’ the good news is that you don’t even have to leave your house to watch it. However, that does mean you need to make sure you have a Paramount+ streaming account because the horror film is exclusive to the relatively new platform. “Paranormal Activity: Next of Kin” arrives on October 29, just in time for Halloween.
