Even though "Aquaman" isn’t due in theaters until 2018, there’s no time like the present to start planning. Warner Bros. currently has dueling drafts of the script on the go, but the bottom line is, any movie set on water is going to be expensive. Toss in what audiences expect from superhero movies these days, and unless you’re careful, you could wind up with "Waterworld" on your hands (a movie that actually isn’t as bad as its reputation). At any rate, Warner Bros. appears to be trying to piece together the talent to bring the movie to life.
Latino Review reports that Noam Murro ("300: Rise Of An Empire") is now in the mix to direct, joining Jeff Nichols on the list of possible filmmakers. The former proved he candle a big budget, and watery special effects, with ‘300,’ while the latter has his first major studio movie, "Midnight Special," coming later this year. Clearly WB, who will release that picture, are happy with what they’re seeing to put Nichols in contention.
Meanwhile, Karl Urban is being tossed around as a potential supporting player, possibly even a villain, but it will depend on his "Star Trek 3" schedule and where this all falls into place.
