Russell Brand Plays God And Tells Nicolas Cage To Kill Osama Bin Laden In Trailer For ‘Army Of One’

While there are a certain slice of current Nicolas Cage movies that operate in the sphere of “so bad, they’re good” mostly, they’re simply not that watchable. And it speaks volumes that the upcoming “Army Of One” is headed straight to video. And while it does feature Cage going pretty unhinged, even in this standard-length trailer, the antics get tired fast.

Co-starring Russell Brand (as God), and directed by Larry Charles (“Borat,” “Bruno,” “The Dictator“), the movie follows a blue collar dude, who believes he’s been given orders by the man upstairs to track down Osama Bin Laden. And this is apparently based on a true story. Here’s the official synopsis:

Gary Faulkner (Cage) is an ex-con, unemployed handyman, and modern day Don Quixote who receives a vision from God (Brand) telling him to capture Osama Bin Laden. Armed with only a single sword purchased from a home-shopping network, Gary travels to Pakistan to complete his mission. While on his quest, Gary encounters old friends back home in Colorado, the new friends he makes in Pakistan, the enemies he makes at the CIA – and even God and Osama themselves. Wendi McLendon-Covey, Rainn Wilson, and Paul Scheer also star in this hilarious tale of patriotism and one man’s quest for justice.

Co-starring Wendi McLendon-Covey, Rainn Wilson, and Paul Scheer, “Army Of One” hits Digital HD on November 4th and Blu-ray Combo Pack, DVD, and On Demand on November 15th.
