As seen in the trailer for “The Book of Clarence,” the new film from writer-director Jeymes Samuel tells the story of a man who not only saw what Jesus was doing—gaining followers and fame as he proved to folks that he was the Messiah—but wanted to replicate it. Of course, when you try to prove you’re the Messiah, you also draw the attention of the government who doesn’t take to kindly to folks who are starting a bit of a revolution.
The cast for the film includes LaKeith Stanfield, Omar Sy, Anna Diop, RJ Cyler, David Oyelowo, Micheal Ward, Alfre Woodard, Teyana Taylor, Caleb McLaughlin, Eric Kofi-Abrefa, Marianne Jean-Baptiste, James McAvoy, and Benedict Cumberbatch.
