‘The Flash’: Ben Affleck Shoots Down George Clooney Rumors & Says He Didn’t Even See Michael Keaton During Filming

Today’s a big day for Film Twitter and social media in general. For those who haven’t seen the movie (which is most of the world), people will finally get the answer to the question about whether or not Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield show up in “Spider-Man: No Way Home.” This comes just in time for us to now focus on the inevitable next question, which Batmen are going to show up next to Michael Keaton and Ben Affleck in “The Flash?” Well, according to Affleck, we can seemingly eliminate one possible answer.

For those who don’t know, DC Films’ upcoming “The Flash” is, much like ‘No Way Home,’ a multiverse tale that will find various versions of heroes and villains coming together. The teaser for the film already showed multiple Flashes. And Warner Bros. has already announced that we’re going to see multiple Batmen, with the aforementioned Keaton and Affleck showing up. But will we see more Bat-folks? George Clooney maybe?

Speaking on “Jimmy Kimmel Live,” Ben Affleck was asked if Clooney was set to suit up and reprise his Batman role from “Batman & Robin.” This is an appropriate question given how Clooney and Affleck teamed up for the new film “The Tender Bar.” So, if anyone knows the Clooney/Batman answer, it would be Affleck, right?

“If he is, he hasn’t told me,” said Affleck about Clooney’s potential ‘Flash’ involvement.

Of course, Clooney definitely could still show up in “The Flash.” There’s nothing in the superhero film rule book that states Affleck’s Batman has to team up with Clooney’s Batman in a specific scene together. They could just appear separately. In fact, that’s exactly what it sounds like happens with Affleck and Michael Keaton.

“It’s possible. [Clooney] may be very guarded,” Affleck said. “As far as I know, he doesn’t want to return to that level height of cowl ears. But I don’t believe he’s in the ‘Flash’ movie.”

He continued, “But then again, I didn’t even see Michael Keaton, so maybe [Clooney] is there?”

When you hear Affleck say that he didn’t even see Michael Keaton on set during “The Flash,” people will assume that means the duo don’t actually share scenes. And that very well could be the case, as again, there’s no rule saying they must show up together. In fact, as far as the story goes, it probably makes more sense if they don’t appear at the same time. That said, Marvel Studios has proven you can have major actors share scenes but shoot at very different times. Digital trickery is a beautiful thing. So, who knows?

All will be answered when “The Flash” arrives in theaters on November 4, 2022.
