Tiffany Haddish To Star In Cory Finley’s Upcoming Sci-Fi Film, ‘Landscape With Invisible Hand’

After blowing up in the film “Girls Trip,” Tiffany Haddish quickly secured herself a place in the upper echelon of comedic actors. Some might say that she appeared in too many films way too fast, as she seemed to have a new feature every month. But recently, she’s started branching out a lot more, with films like “The Kitchen,” which showed her dramatic chops. Now, Haddish has a new film on deck, a sci-fi feature titled “Landscape with Invisible Hand,” that looks to continue the new career trajectory for the actress.

According to Deadline, Haddish is set to star in “Landscape with Invisible Hand,” a new feature from writer-director Cory Finley. The film is based on the 2017 novel of the same name and follows the story of two teens that are desperate to earn money in a version of Earth that has been taken over by aliens. With the entire economy collapsed thanks to the aliens’ amazing technology putting humans out of work, two teens decide to broadcast their relationship to the aliens and earn money that way. But of course, things don’t go exactly as planned.

As mentioned, the film comes from writer-director Finley, who is coming off his second acclaimed feature in a row, “Bad Education.” That film served as the follow-up to his breakout debut feature, “Thoroughbreds,” and has cemented his place as one of the most interesting young directors working today. And it’s clear that with each feature, he jumps up a little with the size and scope, as ‘Invisible Hand’ looks to be his biggest project to date.

In addition to this film, Haddish has several interesting projects that are in the pipeline. She has comedies such as “Here Today” and “On the Count of Three,” which shouldn’t surprise anyone. However, she is also one of the stars in Nicolas Cage’s meta feature, “The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent.” And perhaps her most interesting film is the forthcoming “The Card Counter,” which is from writer-director Paul Schrader and looks to be her most serious feature to date.

It’s unclear when “Landscape with Invisible Hand” will arrive in theaters or streaming.
