Loki and his army are coming for "The Avengers" in the mega superhero smashup movie from Marvel. And so what is he bringing from the universe beyond ours? What strange creatures will face our heroes as they defend Earth?
Well, it looks like penny-pinching Marvel found a box of old monster concepts sitting in the dumpster behind a rival movie studio and borrowed those designs. Looking distinctly bland, unmenacing and frankly, not unlike the aliens from "Battleship," fans now have their first real look at the not-Skrull thingies in the movie. We suppose the more indistinct they are, the easier it is to create in CGI since we figure those guys won't be doing much except being numerous punching bags for Tony Stark and co., that will spend much of the movie flying through the air and then out of frame. But it is a bit disappointing that no one seemed to have bothered to make an effort here.
Anyway, you can check it out below along with a Brazilian TV spot (in English, via Bleeding Cool) that serves up pretty much the same thing, but sans-creatures, with a bit more dialogue and different scenes. "The Avengers" opens on May 4th.
