'Western Stars': Bruce Springsteen Gets The Documentary Treatment From Warner Bros.

When Bruce Springsteen released “Western Stars” his nineteenth studio album, this past June, most fans were expecting a tour to follow soon after promptly. And yet, no visit came. In fact, no live shows whatsoever are expected, a rarity for Springsteen, an artist who has come to value the live experience and to take any new songs he has out on the road. Even stranger is the fact that “Western Stars” has turned out to be one of the most critically acclaimed albums of the year, a primal statement filled with lush orchestral arrangements, impressive vocals and some of the most melodically beautiful songs you will hear all year. Surely, we’d get a chance to eventually hear these songs performed in a live setting, right?

Springsteen has been a name mentioned more than a few times at the movies this year. His extremely well-reviewed Netflix special “Springsteen On Broadway” was nominated for “Outstanding Variety Special” at this coming September’s Primetime Emmys. We must also not forget to mention that this past Friday saw the release of the Sundance hit “Blinded by the Light which features a soundtrack consisting exclusively of Springsteen classics. The movie is an autobiographical account from its screenwriter, Boss superfan Sarfraz Manzoor, about how life-changing The Boss’ music can be.

Manzoor will surely nab a front-row ticket to “Western Stars” when it is released in theaters via Warner Bros. this October.
