New Soderbergh Film 'Let Them All Talk' Bought By HBO Max With Lucas Hedges & More Joining Meryl Streep In The Cast

Just last week, we broke the news that Steven Soderbergh had already begun filming his latest feature, “Let Them All Talk,” with Meryl Streep and Gemma Chan attached to star. And just a few days later, we get confirmation that it is definitely happening and the filmmaker has already lined up his distribution partner, the fledgling streaming service HBO Max.

Now, we not only know the full cast for Soderbergh’s comedy film, but also a plot and distributor. “Let Them All Talk” is said to follow an author (Streep) who goes on a cruise with some of her friends to have some fun and heal old wounds. She’s joined by her nephew, who ends up falling for a literary agent.

As mentioned, the film stars Streep as the lead, reuniting her with Soderbergh after working together on the upcoming “The Laundromat.” Chan is aboard to play the literary agent, who will be romantically linked to the nephew played by Lucas Hedges. Candice Bergen and Dianne Wiest are also aboard to play Streep’s friends in the film.

“This is the kind of project where you just say, ‘Yes please sign me up,’” said Sarah Aubrey, head of HBO Max’s original content. “To work with Steven Soderbergh and this all-star cast led by Meryl Streep is thrilling and sets the standard for features at HBO Max.”

HBO Max is set to launch in spring 2020 and “Let Them All Talk” marks the streaming service’s first major purchase. The film is already in production in New York City and is being self-financed by Soderbergh and his team. The film is written by award-winning author Deborah Eisenberg.

With production underway now, a 2020 release date is likely. However, the real question is whether or not this film will be streaming-exclusive or if it’ll have a sort of theatrical run. Soderbergh is no stranger to either, as this year he released “High Flying Bird” directly on Netflix, while he’s prepping “The Laundromat” for a more traditional release, though still with Netflix.

Either way, new Soderbergh is confirmed and we’re psyched!
