'The Woman In The Window' Trailer: Amy Adams Hides In A New Mystery Thriller

Amy Adams made the 2010s a decade of outstanding performances, with an emphasis on the films “Arrival” and “The Master,” and even “Sharp Objects” in the realm of television. She showed her ability to transform into any character, morphing into one of Hollywood’s most respected and ambitious actors. Even though her Oscar got lost in the mail, Adams’ star power continues to grow.

Joe Wright’s “The Woman in the Window” is counting on that fame, along with the reputations of her fellow co-stars in Gary Oldman (“Darkest Hour”), Julianne Moore (“Alice”), and Brian Tyree Henry (“Atlanta”). Written by the ever-unflappable Tracy Letts (“Ford v. Ferrari”), “The Woman in the Window” has been in production purgatory for the past year, especially after a mysterious run of poor test screenings earlier in 2019.

“The Woman in the Window” relies heavily on Adams, an actress who attempts to start 2020 with another strong performance. Adapted from the best-selling novel by Dan Mallory (pen name A.J. With an A-list cast and a director known for solid films like “Darkest Hour” and “Atonement,” this now 2020 movie looks to build on the “Gone Girl” effect, turning a page-turner into a satisfying thriller. Two likely roads remain for Wright’s film, though. It could be a huge hit like Fincher’s “Gone Girl.” Or, it could flop like Emily Blunt’s The Girl on the Train.” Based on the test screenings, the latter might be in store.

Based on the domestic thriller of the same name, “The Woman in the Window” stars Adams, Oldman, Moore, Henry, Jennifer Jason Leigh (“Hateful Eight“), Anthony Mackie (“The Hurt Locker”), and Wyatt Russell (“Everybody Wants Some!!”). The film is set to be released on May 15, 2020, by 20th Century Fox. Watch the first trailer below.
