Joe Wright's Upcoming Thriller 'Woman In The Window,' Starring Amy Adams, Gets Delayed After Test Screenings Left People "Confused"

One of the more highly-anticipated films of this fall is Joe Wright’sWoman in the Window.” The thriller stars Amy Adams and is an adaptation of the bestselling novel of the same name. However, it appears that there’s a bit of a problem with the film, which will add a significant delay to the release.

According to THR, “Woman in the Window” is now going to vacate it’s October release date and go back into production for a short reshoot period to help clarify the third act of the film. The report claims that Disney isn’t pleased after test audiences were left “confused” by the film, leading the studio to allow for five more days of shooting and some more time in the editing room.

“Woman in the Window” has a fairly simple premise, with Adams starring as a woman that is spying on her neighbors out of her window when she witnesses a crime. She must then decide whether or not to alert the authorities. However, as with the novel, the film is said to have plenty of twists and turns, which is leading to the overall confusion from the test audiences.

Fox 2000 president Elizabeth Gabler said, “We’re dealing with a complex novel. We tested the movie really early for that very reason. We wanted to make it better, and we’ve had Disney’s full support in doing that.”

Gabler is in an interesting position. As the head of Fox 2000, she’s really just a title only, as Disney is breaking up the small studio as part of its Fox merger. However, Gabler is staying onboard as the Fox 2000 president until the end of production on “Woman in the Window.”

While no new release date has been revealed, it’s clear that “Woman in the Window” will arrive at some point in 2020.
