Got a Tip?

‘X-Men: Days Of Future Past’ Extended “Rogue Cut” Coming In 2015 With More Than 10 Minutes Of New Footage

X-Men: Days of Future PastWe’re not marketers, and so we’re not sure how wise it is to publicize the fact that a new version of a tentpole will be coming next year when it’s just two weeks before that same movie hits home video, but hey, perhaps that’s why they get paid the big bucks. Anyway, with "X-Men: Days Of Future Past" hitting the street on October 14th, more details about that extended cut have emerged.

Titled the "Rogue Cut," this iteration will feature at least ten minutes of additional material, mostly focused on, you guessed it, Anna Paquin‘s Rogue. “It’s a big chunk, a substantial part of the movie,” writer and producer Simon Kinberg said at a press conference, adding, “every movie has scenes that are cut out, but not every movie has scenes cut out with such a beloved character.”

As has been previously documented, Rogue was part of a plot thread in the film that saw her absorbing Kitty Pryde’s power, when the latter is injured by Wolverine during their time travel session to make sure he stays in the past. There was also a sequence that found Professor X, Magneto, and Iceman teaming up to save Rogue from the Sentinels. Whether both of these elements or just one or the other will be inserted back into Bryan Singer’s film isn’t yet known.

The scenes were cut from a movie that was already loaded with timeline jumping and various other plotlines. And it was an exhausting effort for Kinberg.

“It’s the most complicated movie I’ve ever worked on,” he said. “I pray to God I never work on another time travel movie.”

No release date yet for "Rogue Cut" but expect it in 2015. [Variety]
