'Ready Player One' Trailer From Director Steven Spielberg

Steven Spielberg is booting up “Ready Player One,” and Warner Brothers has released the first trailer for the film.

The film follows gamer Wade Watts (Tye Sheridan) as he plays through a MMO (Massive Multiplayer Online) game searching for easter egg left behind by the game’s creator James Donovan Halliday (Mark Rylance, making this his third collaboration with Spielberg in four years). The novel was steeped in 80s culture, so it’ll be interesting to see how Spielberg incorporates the time period, though he has already discussed removing the references to his own films that in Ernest Cline‘s source material.

With the HBO documentary on his work coming out in October, in addition to “The Papers” coming out this year and “Ready Player One” set for next spring, Spielberg seems to be on a roll, having released a movie every year for the past four years. “Ready Player One” looks to be a return to the family-friendly sci-fi that made Spielberg a household name.

“Ready Player One” also stars Tye Sheridan, Simon Pegg, T.J. Miller, and Olivia Cooke, was written by by Zak Penn and Eric Eason and will see composer Alan Silverstri (“Forrest Gump” “Back to the Future”) work on a Spielberg directed film for the first time.

“Ready Player One” will be released March 30, 2018. Check out the first trailer and let us know what you think in the comments below.
