‘Fringe’ Writer & Producer Brad Caleb Kane To Pen The Script
With “X-Men: First Class” coming out of the gate this weekend with a modest box office haul, Fox hopes the wobbly franchise is back on its feet and along with “The Wolverine,” they’ve got another superhero they hope to rescue from the terrible iterations that came before it. David Slade was been tasked with rebooting “Daredevil” earlier in the year and his promise that it would be a completely new adventure has stayed true in some news that should make comic fans very excited.
Heat Vision reports Frank Miller and David Mazzucchelli’s “Born Again” run will serve as the foundation for the new film. Voted the 11th Greatest Marvel Of All Time back in 2001, the story is gritty as hell. It turns out that Karen Page leaves the law offices of Nelson & Murdock to make it big as actress, but instead to succumbs to heroin addiction and starring in porno movies. Desperate for a hit, she sells off Matt Murdock’s alter ego and it’s not long before Kingpin uses the info to drive Murdock to destitution and insanity. And where it goes from there, well, we won’t spoil it.
Bravo to Fox for choosing some great source material for this, and let’s just hope they can line up the right array of talent to knock it out. “Fringe” writer and co-producer Brad Caleb Kane is on board to write the script. While his CV may not be extensive, he apparently has gained heat around town after his work on Antoine Fuqua‘s “Brooklyn’s Finest” and the long developing Richard Pryor biopic that has Bill Condon attached to direct. But perhaps more, he is said to be a huge fan of the comics to begin with.
So, slowly but surely, the pieces are falling into place. No word yet on who will actually suit up in the role, but we’re sure those shortlist stories will be right around the corner.
