Part of making it in Hollywood is knowing the fine art of negotiation. It’s knowing what you’re worth and moving all the puzzle pieces and interested parties around the industry chessboard so that it all plays to your favor, and Channing Tatum has done just that with "Gambit." After a brief panic that he might leave the movie earlier this week, everything is back on track.
THR reports that yes, negotiations did hit a tough spot, but the movie was never in any actual danger, the smoke has cleared, and Tatum is locked for "Gambit." Whether or not the negotiation news hitting the press was a sly tactic or ushered along the talks, perhaps we’ll never know, but it couldn’t have hurt Tatum. The conversations between the studio and the actor that needed to be worked out included his backend compensation and just how far his involvement with the ‘X-Men’ world will go (our guess is that 20th Century Fox wants to use the popular actor as much as possible going forward).
Either way, everything is ready to go for this to start shooting this fall with Rupert Wyatt directing and a release date set for October 7, 2016.
