Never one to shy away from a wacky wardrobe, constructed facial hair and madcap hijinks, Johnny Depp has found another vehicle for his particular brand of thespian-ism in "Mortdecai." And today a brand new trailer for the caper movie has arrived on the scene.
The supporting case for the film is pretty solid with Ewan McGregor, Gwyneth Paltrow, Aubrey Plaza, Jeff Goldblum, Olivia Munn, Oliver Platt and Paul Bettany all appearing in the ensemble. We bet that when the press junket interviews find them all saying how much fun the movie was to make, this will be the rare case where that’s actually true. But is the movie any good? Well, that’s up to David Koepp, whose last few ventures behind the camera ("Premium Rush," "Ghost Town," and "Secret Window" with Depp) don’t exactly inspire confidence. Here’s the official synopsis:
Juggling some angry Russians, the British Mi5, his impossibly leggy wife and an international terrorist, debonair art dealer and part time rogue Charlie Mortdecai (Johnny Depp) must traverse the globe armed only with his good looks and special charm in a race to recover a stolen painting rumoured to contain the code to a lost bank account filled with Nazi gold.
"Mortdecai" opens on January 23rd. Watch below.
