IFC Films Celebrates 20 Years Of Independence In New Retrospective Video

It’s crazy to think about how the world has changed in 20 years. And even in a more micro sense, how the film industry has changed over the last two decades. However, regardless of the rise of streaming, the ubiquity of smartphones and tablets, and the dominance of franchise films at the box office, IFC Films has lived on, gifting audiences with some truly astounding works of art in a world that sometimes feels like it doesn’t deserve it.

And to celebrate its 20th anniversary, IFC Films has put together a retrospective video highlighting some of the most well-known films that the distributor has released over the decades. Honestly, when you see the sheer number of iconic indie films back-to-back, it’s pretty incredible.

While I will never forget films such as “Y Tu Mamá También,” “Boyhood,” and “Frances Ha,” you tend to forget that IFC Films was the distributor of each of them. And it’s not just older films either. Just in the last couple of years, the distributor has released films such as “Swallow,” “The Nightingale,” “Donnybrook,” and “Wildlife.” Sure, we talk about A24, NEON, and other indie distributors who are making names for themselves nowadays, but let’s not leave IFC Films out of the discussion, either.
