Got a Tip?

‘Ozark’ To End With A “Super-Sized” Season 4 Split Into 2 Parts

We have some good news and bad news for “Ozark” fans. First, the bad news (because ripping the bandaid off is always the best way to move ahead)— the Emmy-winning series is ending after its upcoming fourth season. But the good news is that the fourth season is actually getting a larger number of episodes and being split into two parts. So even though the end is near, it’s not as close as you might be worried about.

Netflix just announced that “Ozark” is returning for a fourth season and final season containing 14 episodes that will be split into two 7-part halves. While the streaming service isn’t ready to tease what’s going to happen in the final batch of episodes, Season 4 will finally conclude the saga of the Byrdes, a family that originated in Chicago and has developed a criminal enterprise in the Ozarks.

As you might expect, Season 4 is retaining the creative minds of previous seasons to help shape the end of the story. Chris Mundy is returning as showrunner and producer, while Jason Bateman is there to lead the cast, as well as help direct and produce the series, as well.

“We’re so happy Netflix recognized the importance of giving ‘Ozark’ more time to end the Byrdes’ saga right,” Mundy said. “It’s been such a great adventure for all of us — both on screen and off — so we’re thrilled to get the chance to bring it home in the most fulfilling way possible.”

Bateman added, “A super sized season means super sized problems for the Byrdes. I’m excited to end with a bang(s).”

In addition to Bateman, “Ozark” stars Laura Linney, Julia Garner, Sofia Hublitz, Skylar Gaertner, Charlie Tahan, and Lisa Emery.

“Ozark” has followed the Netflix model for hit series with a rather slow start but gaining popularity with each and every season. The recent third season was released at a time that was perfect for binge-watching, with the world dealing with the COVID-19 pandemic and lockdowns. And because of that, you could argue that “Ozark” is actually the most popular it’s ever been…right before it’s getting the ax.

It’s unclear when the fourth season of “Ozark” will debut its first part, but hopefully, it won’t be long, as fans of the series are dying to find out what happens to the Byrdes.
