'Impeachment: American Crime Story' Trailer: The FX Show Takes On Bill Clinton's Sex Scandal On September 7

The Bill Clinton/ Monica Lewinsky scandal gripped the nation like no other story in the 1990s, save for O.J Simpson’s murder trial (the subject of the first season of “American Crime Story.”). “Impeachment: American Crime Story,” based on President Bill Clinton’s 1998 impeachment trial, details the seemingly never-ending saga and its memorable cast of characters like Lewinsky, Paula Jones, Linda Tripp, and Matt Drudge.

Sarah Paulson leads a stacked cast as Linda Tripp. It’s a reunion for Paulson with the series, as she played Marcia Clark in “The People v. O.J. Simpson.” Joining her are Beanie Feldstein (“Booksmart“) as Lewinsky, Margo Martindale (‘The Americans‘) as Lucianne Goldberg, Annaleigh Ashford (‘The Assassination Of Gianni Versace: American Crime Story“) and Cobie Smulders (“The Avengers”). Clive Owen (“Gemini Man“) and Edie Falco (“The Sopranos“) play President Clinton and First Lady Hilary Clinton.  Anthony Green (‘Anaconda 3: Offspring‘), Billy Eichner (“American Horror Story“), and Colin Hanks (‘How It Ends‘) round out the main cast.

“Impeachment” has a lot to live up to compared to the show’s last two seasons, as both won over critics and audiences alike. “The People v. O.J. Simpson” nabbed nine Emmys in 2016, including a win for Paulson as Outstanding Actress In A Limited Series Or Movie, while “The Assassination of Gianni Versace” won three Emmys in 2018.

More enticing still is Monica Lewinsky’s involvement with the show. Lewinksy joined the project as an executive producer in 2019, citing to Vanity Fair her desire to “fully reclaim my narrative” through her involvement.
