Got a Tip?

Brie Larson Out, Imogen Poots In For Peter Bogdanovich’s ‘Squirrel To The Nuts’ Produced By Wes Anderson & Noah Baumbach

Imogen PootsThough the producing team of Wes Anderson and Noah Baumbach would seem a fast-track into existence for any project, director Peter Bogdanovich has still encountered a wave of woes in mounting his latest Lubitsch-inspired effort, “Squirrel To The Nuts.” Luckily, the screwball comedy gained new life with news of its two cast leadsOwen Wilson and Brie Larson, but now it appears one-half of that lineup will swap out with another player.

Wilson is still locked in for the film as an anxiety-ridden Broadway director, but The Wrap now reports that “Fright Night” actress Imogen Poots will replace Larson as the prostitute-turned-theater-star with whom he falls in love. Although we’re sad to see Larson depart the project, Poots is building quite an upcoming slate of films, including “Need For Speed” opposite Aaron Paul and Terrence Malick’s “Knight of Cups” (if she makes the cut), and a role in Bogdanovich’s latest should give her a nice comedic showcase.

In addition to a supporting cast of Jennifer Aniston and Cybil Shepherd, also joining the cast is comedian Richard Lewis, most recently and memorably seen in “Curb Your Enthusiasm”; he will play the father to Poot’s character, as well as husband to Shepherd in the film. Filming on “Squirrel To The Nuts” is currently underway in New York, and with such a solid cast lined up, a proper distribution deal hopefully isn’t too far behind. [THR]
