'A Love Song' Trailer: Dale Dickey & Wes Studi Star In The Sundance Standout Drama

Thinking of actors and actresses who appear in a myriad of films in small but memorable roles, Dale Dickey quickly comes to mind. “Hell or High Water,” “Winter’s Bone,” “Palm Springs,” “Super 8,” and Iron Man 3,” that’s to name just a small handful of the supporting roles she has had throughout her career. However, “supporting” is the key word there. Premiering this summer in theaters is “A Love Song,” offering Dickey a long overdue starring role. Alongside our review of the film from this year’s Sundance Film Festival, this first trailer has arrived to give viewers their first look at this forthcoming feature.

Based on our review for “A Love Song,” not only is the opportunity for Dickey to play a lead role a change of pace for her, her character itself sounds unique to her career. Well-known for playing characters with an icy gaze and a stoic presence, this film sees her playing a character in love, with all of the fluctuating emotions that romance brings. As is said in our review of her performance, revolving around that romance, “As she thinks about the impending visitor, she giggles, an impish smile across her face telling her new friends about this man she once knew. When he does arrive, she’s both shy like a schoolgirl, but also as forward as a woman with much experience in the world.” From the sound of that, this film will be worth a look for fans of timid but touching love portrayed on-screen.
