Interestingly enough, “Annabelle” writer Gary Dauberman makes his directorial debut with the film, which finds “Conjuring” stars Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga returning as the Warrens, once again hassling with the morbid porcelain-powers-that-be. The main brunt of Annabelle’s ire this time around is Warren’s daughter, played by Mckenna Grace.

She’s clearly got a knack for horror, as she’s most know from her turn as the younger Theo Craine on Netflix’s “The Haunting of Hill House.” She’s also the young Sabrina on the television revamp “Chilling Adventures of Sabrina” and had a starring role in the Lifetime T.V. remake of “The Bad Seed,” not to mention a role in 2017’s “Amityville: The Awakening” and a movie called “Suburban Gothic.” Did we mention she’s in the upcoming “Ghostbusters” film as well?

The “Conjuring” series is becoming one of the most lucrative franchises in Hollywood, with producer James Wan shepherding this latest installment. When he was on Twitter, his handle was “@CreepyPuppet,” and one of his earlier films involved evil dolls with “Dead Silence,” so he must have a soft spot for the no-strings-attached sub-genre.

This film promises to freak you out with evil doll horror just like its predecessors, so you should already know if you’re in the target audience. You’ll have to see for yourself how Annabelle’s homecoming goes with the film stalks its way into theaters on June 28.
