'Batman 3' Rumors? 'The Dark Knight' Writer Says Don't Believe The Hype

We personally love it when stupid rumors are put to rest. And rumors have been out of hand when it comes to talk about a sequel to “The Dark Knight,” aka Christopher Nolan’s ‘Batman 3.’

On Monday it was reported that a ‘TDK’ sequel was going into production in February 2009 and of course there’s been all those rumors about Johnny Depp and Philip Seymor Hoffman playing Batman villains (The Riddler and Penguin, respectively), but MTV talked to ‘Dark Knight’ writer David Goyer, and he said, don’t believe the hype, all these rumors are “b.s.”

“It’s all B.S. ALL of it,” Goyer said referring to the aforementioned casting, the villains, whether Nolan had actually signed on yet, the production dates for 2009, etc. There even isn’t a script yet.

As where we all really left off, Nolan is still taking a break from it all. “Chris and I haven’t even talked about it. He quite understandably is taking a long, long vacation and wants to purge himself.”

Purge, huh? Perhaps take on another smaller project between Batman films, ala “The Prestige” perhaps?

Goyer admits that they’ve thrown ideas and themes around, but haven’t met officially to discuss any story direction. “We have mused here and there [but] I mean Chris is pretty much a one movie at a time kind of guy. I wish I could tell you more. There really isn’t anything to tell.”

Yeah, no shit, but when people want something bad enough, they’ll make up and believe all kinds of shit just to keep the conversation going. PS, so either Michael Caine was fucking with MTV a few weeks ago or someone at WB fooled him.
