Brian Cox Is “More Than Ready” For ‘Succession’ To End & Is “Absolutely Delighted” To End The Roy Family’s Story

When it was announced that HBO’sSuccession” would be ending its run after the upcoming fourth season, debuting in a matter of days, fans were saddened to know this would be the end of the line for the Roy family on TV screens. But for those involved in the creation of the series, especially star Brian Cox, the end of “Succession” is a reason to celebrate.

Speaking to Entertainment Tonight, while on the red carpet for the premiere of Season 4, Brian Cox was asked about his feelings regarding “Succession” ending now versus continuing its story in future seasons. As you might expect from one of the most honest, tell-it-like-it-is actors working today, Cox isn’t sad that the show is coming to an end. In fact, he’s “more than ready” for the show to end, especially wrapping up its run before it outstays its welcome.

“I think we’ve, you know, got to the point where the show has reached its natural closure,” Cox explained. “A lot of shows outstay their welcome, and I think our show is perfect, and neat, in the way it is.”

The actor added that he is “absolutely delighted” that the series is coming to an end now and said, “In a good way, I’m happy it’s over.”

Obviously, he doesn’t mean any ill will towards the show and its cast and crew. Even though Cox has been steadfast in his honesty about being happy the show is ending, he wants everyone to know that he will definitely miss the colleagues he had the chance to work alongside.

“It’s the cast. I’ll miss the cast and the crew, the camera guys, we got great camera operators. We got to be we’ve got a couple of great DPs. So you know, it’s the whole shebang,” he said. “I’ll miss the people I work with. They’re the key.”

Earning heaps of awards over the course of the first three seasons, many are expecting “Succession” Season 4 to be another powerhouse when it comes to awards season later this year. And perhaps we can see Brian Cox earn another Emmy nomination (which would be his third for “Succession”).

“Succession” Season 4 debuts on March 26.
