'Broken Diamonds' Trailer: Ben Platt & Lola Kirke Star Are A Dysfunctional Brother/Sister In Peter Sattler's New Film

Noted high schooler, Ben Platt, is shedding his youthful look to join a film, “Broken Diamonds,” that has him shockingly play a character that is actually age-appropriate. (Sorry, you know we have to joke about the ‘Evan Hansen’ stuff as long as it’s relevant.) But the surprising transition from teen to grown man is helped along by the fact that he stars opposite noted adult, Lola Kirke.

As seen in the trailer for “Broken Diamonds,” the film follows the story of a man (Platt) that is trying to wrap up his unsuccessful life in the US to venture off to Paris to become a famous writer. However, when his father dies, he only has a short time to figure out the estate before leaving the country for good. And unfortunately for him, that includes reconnecting with his mentally ill sister (Kirke), who holds the key to selling his father’s home and leaving everything else behind.

Joining Platt and Kirke in the cast of “Broken Diamonds” are Yvette Nicole Brown and Alphonso McAuley. The film is directed by Peter Sattler, based on a script by Steve Waverly. Sattler is probably best known for his directorial debut, “Camp X-Ray,” which stars Kristen Stewart.
