Is this Patrick Schwarzenegger‘s biggest film role yet? It just may be.
Deadline reports that “The White Lotus” S3 star joins the cast of “Bunker,” an upcoming thriller with Javier Bardem and Penélope Cruz in the lead roles, and Stephen Graham in a supporting one. Florian Zeller directs the project, about an architect who accepts building a survivalist bunker for a tech billionaire, a morally ambiguous job that promptly causes his wife to question their 17-year marriage. A brief synopsis available to Deadline describes “Bunker” as “a thriller that delves into the emotional and moral challenges a couple faces amid the tensions of the world around them, exploring the fears, doubts, and dilemmas that define our era.”
Feredica Sainte-Rose will produce the pic via Blue Morning Pictures, along with Fernando Bovaira and Simon de Santiageo of MOD Proucciones. Alice Dawnson also serve as a producer on the film. Executive producers include Mariano Cohn, Gaston Duprat, Andres Duprat, Emanuel Nunez, and Fernando Sokolowicz. FilmNation finances “Bunker.”
As noted above, “Bunker” could be a huge leap for Schwarznegger, cinematically speaking. “The White Lotus” S3 was a breakout for the 32-year-old actor, but he also has “Love Of Your Life” at Amazon MGM, co-starring Margaret Qualley, on the way next year; that project could help his Hollywood star rise even more. Other recent work for Schwarzenegger includes Ryan Murphy‘s “American Sports Story: Aaron Hernandez” and “Billy Knight,” an LA-set drama co-starring Al Pacino, Diana Silvers, and Charlie Hilton that premiered at the Rhode Island International Film Festival in August.
Stay tuned for more details on “Bunker,” which should start shooting early next year.
