'The Crown' Season 2: Royalty Reigns In First Trailer

We don’t always agree at The Playlist, and at the moment, I’m the only one of my colleagues who has fully dived into “Riverdale” and “The Crown.” Hopefully, they’ll come around at some point, but I’m definitely ready for Netflix‘s new season of the Buckingham Palace drama, and the first trailer has landed.

Claire Foy is back for her final turn as the Queen, as Peter Morgan and the rest of the creative team are tackling a new decade in the life of the English royal with each season, and the actress will be too young for season three. The next batch of episodes will once again see Elizabeth trying to do damage control as her sister Margaret (Vanessa Kirby) embarks on a relationship with Antony Armstrong-Jones, played by Matthew Goode.

“Tony is everything the palace isn’t: seductive, dangerous, risque – remarkably modern and progressive,” Morgan told The Telegraph. “He’s a source of great happiness for Margaret, tired of the buttoned-down conservatism of palace life, but he hides dark secrets. He brings a new flavour and rhythm to proceedings.”

“The Crown” returns to Netflix on December 8th.
