According to Deadline, Jennifer Connelly is set to star opposite Joel Edgerton in the upcoming Apple TV+ thriller series, “Dark Matter.” “Dark Matter” tells the story of a physicist and family man, Jason Dessen (Edgerton), who finds himself trapped in an alternate universe where everything is different than what he knows. Over the course of the series, he has to travel the multiverse to save his family from an evil version of himself. The series features Connelly as the wife of Dessen.

In addition to starring in the aforementioned ‘Maverick,’ Connelly recently wrapped up a four-season run on the TNT series, “Snowpiercer.” Other recent roles include appearances in the films “Only the Brave” and “Alita: Battle Angel.”

“Dark Matter” is based on a novel by Blake Crouch. The author is also onboard the TV adaptation, serving as writer and showrunner. Jakob Verbruggen is attached to direct the first three episodes of the series. “Dark Matter” is just another high-profile Apple TV+ series to be announced over the past couple of years. Unlike HBO Max, which is being slashed by a new Warner Bros. Discovery CEO, and Netflix, which is cutting costs after subscriber growth has stagnated, it’s clear that Apple TV+ is still in the spending phase of its launch, trying to build up its library of content.

A production start date for “Dark Matter” has yet to be announced.
