First 'Dune' Footage To Be Shown During WB's Re-Release Of 'Inception'

Since “Tenet” vacated the July 17 release date, Warner Bros. decided to give Christopher Nolan fans a treat for that date, anyway, with the re-release of “Inception.” However, even if you’re a fan of “Inception” and seen it a million times, the studio is adding a little bonus that might be worth the price of a movie ticket.

According to a report from /Film, WB is set to release “Inception” on “Tenet’s” previous July 17 date. And accompanying the film will be a special promo reel that will offer sneak peeks at some of the studio’s upcoming features including “Wonder Woman 1984,” “Dune,” and “Godzilla vs. Kong.”

Obviously, including “Wonder Woman 1984” is a no-brainer, as that film was expected to be released in June, then was pushed back to August, but finally landed on an October release date due to the pandemic. However, for fans of Denis Villeneuve, the inclusion of “Dune” in the promo reel is going to attract some interest. This will mark the first time that people get to see footage from the upcoming film, which is still scheduled to arrive in December.

It’s also being rumored that WB is likely going to release the first full trailer for the film at the upcoming virtual Comic-Con event at the end of the month. So, the footage seen in the “Inception” re-release is likely going to be exclusive to theaters and won’t be featured in the trailer.

As mentioned, with the film arriving in December, now’s the time that the studio would need to begin the push for “Dune” if the film is expected to be the blockbuster that everyone hopes it’ll be. WB spent a lot of money on Villeneuve’s vision of the Frank Herbert novel and has already begun development on the second part, which is expected to finish telling the story of the original “Dune” book. In addition, the studio is already working on a TV spin-off of the franchise. So, again, a lot is riding on the December release of the film.
