Marvel’s ‘The Punisher’ Trailer: Justice Is Coming

Frank Castle, aka The Punisher, made his Netflix debut in season 2 of Marvel’sDaredevil.” In that series, Castle was seen as a brutal force of nature that would stop at nothing in his quest for justice. What separates him from the other heroes in the Marvel Universe is that his form of justice normally includes horribly maiming people and killing them. Fans instantly loved Jon Bernthal’s portrayal of the character and wanted more. So, in short order, Netflix announced a standalone series of “The Punisher.”

In the first trailer we get for the series, it looks like fans are going to get exactly what they want. With the freedom of Netflix, Frank Castle is allowed to be his murderous self, free of any kid-friendly censors. So, we see all the Punisher trademarks – battles, bullets, and Frank Castle looking like he’s been on the losing end of a 12-round fight. Now, this show wouldn’t amount to much if all we got was a retread of the things we saw in “Daredevil.” It appears that Marvel TV understands that and has given our hero a great supporting cast, including the long-awaited debut of Micro, a comic book favorite.

Joining Bernthal in the cast is Ben Barnes, Ebon Moss-Bachrach, Amber Rose Revah, and Deborah Ann Woll reprising her Karen Page role from “Daredevil.” The series is created by Steve Lightfoot, who is best known for being a writer on the NBC series “Hannibal.” If he brings even half the intensity of that show to “The Punisher,” then fans are in for a really dark series.

“The Punisher” is expected to arrive later this year.
