'Five Days At Memorial' Trailer: John Ridley's New Hurricane Katrina Series Stars Vera Farmiga & Arrives In August

Apple TV+ is quickly rocketing into the foray of prestige streaming service films and television, attracting a plethora of talent from all over the entertainment industry. Coming soon to the streamer is “Five Days at Memorial” from John Ridley and Carlton Cuse, serving as executive producers, writers, and directors on the series. The upcoming eight-episode mini-series, premiering this August, has its first trailer now available to view online.

An Academy Award winner for his screenplay of “12 Years a Slave” from Steve McQueen, John Ridley has been keeping himself busy. Alongside recently writing “Batman” and “The Other History of the DC Universe” for DC Comics, last year saw the release of “Needle In A Timestack,” a science-fiction romantic drama he wrote and directed. Carlton Cuse, meanwhile, also an award-winner with an Emmy for his writing on “Lost,” has been working on “Jack Ryan,” “Locke & Key,” and has an upcoming adaptation of “The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy” through Hulu in the pipeline.

Joining Ridley and Cuse on directing duties for the show is Wendey Stanzler, having directed a myriad of episodes for iconic shows like “Grey’s Anatomy,” “Desperate Housewives,” “90210,” “The Vampire Diaries,” and “Arrow.” With a notable cast and wide-reaching creative talent, “Five Days at Memorial” may be worth a look for those who love television dramas.

Here’s the official synopsis:

Based on actual events and adapted from the book of the same name by Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist Sheri Fink, “Five Days at Memorial” chronicles the impact of Hurricane Katrina and its aftermath on a local hospital. When the floodwaters rose, power failed, and heat soared, exhausted caregivers at a New Orleans hospital were forced to make decisions that would follow them for years to come.

Starring an ensemble cast of Vera Farmiga, Robert Pine, Cherry Jones, Julie Ann Emery, Cornelius Smith Jr., Adepero Oduye, Molly Hager, Michael Gaston, and W. Earl Brown, the first three episodes of “Five Days at Memorial” debut on Apple TV+ on August 12, new episodes following weekly through September 16. Watch the new trailer below.
