'Get Duked' Exclusive Clip: DJ Beatroot Doesn't Have Time For Warnings In Amazon's New Comedy

Let’s be honest, the world sucks right now. There’s no other way to put it. There’s a global pandemic that still is causing problems (especially here in the US), as well as what seems to be general unrest amongst the world’s population (again, especially in the US where protests are happening nightly and our Presidential Election season is as toxic as ever). That’s where the power of film can help, and Amazon’s upcoming comedy, “Get Duked” might be just what you need to forget the ills of the world for a couple of hours.

And in honor of “Get Duked” arriving on Prime Video later this week, we’re thrilled to offer our readers an exclusive look at a clip from the film, which over the course of just one minute, shows exactly the tone and humor you can expect from the ridiculous comedy.

“Get Duked” follows the story of teens that are embarking on a camping trip in the Scottish Highlands. Hoping to just goof off and do drugs, the teens find themselves stumbling into a deadly game where they are hunted by a mysterious group of adults.

The film stars Samuel Bottomley, Rian Gordon, Lewis Gribben, Viraj Juneja, Kate Dickie, Kevin Guthrie, Jonathan Aris, Georgia Glen, Alice Lowe, Brian Pettifer, James Cosmo, and Eddie Izzard. “Get Duked” is written and directed by Ninian Doff. The filmmaker is probably best known for his music video output, including clips for artists such as Miike Snow, The Chemical Brothers, and Migos.

We saw “Get Duked” back at last year’s SXSW (when it was titled “Boyz in the Wood”), and we absolutely adored the film. In our review, we called the feature “a hilarious retort to the critics of youth and a rousing late-night movie for a new generation.”

“Get Duked” arrives on Amazon Prime Video on August 28. You can watch the exclusive clip below.

Here’s the synopsis:

Dean, Duncan and DJ Beatroot are teenage pals from Glasgow who embark on the character-building camping trip — based on a real-life program — known as the Duke of Edinburgh Award, where foraging, teamwork and orienteering are the order of the day. Eager to cut loose and smoke weed in the Scottish Highlands, the trio finds themselves paired with straight-laced Ian, a fellow camper determined to play by the rules. After veering off-path into remote farmland that’s worlds away from their urban comfort zone, the boys find themselves hunted down by a shadowy force hell-bent on extinguishing their futures.
